Minjoo "Kim Geon-hee to Launch Street Protest on November 2 Regarding Non-Prosecution Decision"

Prosecution Chief Shim Woo-jung, District Chief Lee Chang-soo, and Others Face Impeachment Push
"Truth Will Be Revealed Through Special Investigation, Permanent Special Investigation, and National Audit"

All members of the Democratic Party of Korea have decided to launch an extra-parliamentary struggle starting from the 2nd of next month against the prosecution's decision not to indict Mrs. Kim Geon-hee. Along with the non-indictment decision regarding Mrs. Kim's alleged involvement in the Deutsche Motors stock manipulation case, they also plan to push for the impeachment of three individuals: Prosecutor General Shim Woo-jung, Seoul Central District Prosecutor Lee Chang-soo, and Central District Prosecutor Chief Choi Jae-hoon.

On the afternoon of the 18th, Democratic Party lawmakers held a press conference at the National Assembly Communication Office, stating, "We will impeach the accomplices who concealed Kim Geon-hee's crimes on behalf of the people." Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Yong-min said, "The prosecution under the Yoon Seok-yeol administration decided not to indict Kim Geon-hee, the president's spouse, on stock manipulation charges after 4 years and 6 months," adding, "This case will be recorded as a death sentence for the rule of law and will be remembered as the second Kim Hak-ui case."

They criticized, "Kim Geon-hee has become the de facto president enjoying immunity from prosecution, and the prosecution has become a dog that bites when Kim says bite and lets go when Kim says let go. While fabricating crimes against Lee Jae-myung, the party leader, and critical media outlets and hunting them down, they act like defense attorneys for Kim, despite clear evidence of her crimes."

They continued, "The prosecution announced that the court dismissed all search warrants related to Kim Geon-hee. However, it has been revealed that they did not even apply for the warrants," and directly accused, "Shamelessly, the prosecution lied blatantly to the public."

The Democratic Party emphasized, "The immunity granted to Kim Geon-hee will serve as a catalyst for a stronger special prosecutor investigation," and stated, "Since it has been confirmed that the prosecution not only lacks the will to investigate but is also an accomplice, the Democratic Party will uncover the substantive truth through the ‘Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor,’ a permanent special prosecutor, and the National Assembly audit."

They added, "The reckless abuse of power and dereliction of duty by the political prosecution have destroyed principles and common sense, shaking the foundation of democracy," and warned clearly, "If President Yoon Seok-yeol exercises his veto (reconsideration request right) again on the Kim Geon-hee special prosecutor law, he will face national resistance, and the speed of the joint downfall of the Kim Geon-hee-Yoon Seok-yeol prosecution dictatorship regime will accelerate."

The Democratic Party declared, "Starting with the 'Kim Geon-hee Condemnation Nationwide Rally' on November 2, we will confirm the angry public sentiment against the Kim Geon-hee regime. We will prepare long padding coats," expressing their determination for the extra-parliamentary struggle.
