Oh Se-hoon: "North Korea's Arrogant Behavior Due to 'Nuclear Asymmetry'"

Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon criticized North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un, who threatened South Korea while spreading out a map of Seoul, stating, "The reason North Korea is showing such arrogant behavior is because they have nuclear weapons while we do not, creating a 'nuclear asymmetry' situation."

On the 18th, Mayor Oh wrote on Facebook, "North Korea's Kim Jong-un once again threatened us while holding up a map showing Seoul," adding, "As the mayor of Seoul and as a citizen who has lived in Seoul all his life, I feel unbearable anger at their repeated threats against Seoul."

He then emphasized that in order to deter North Korea, which is escalating its threats against the South, South Korea must enhance its nuclear potential. Referring to nuclear asymmetry, Mayor Oh said, "This is why we urgently need to increase our nuclear potential."

Mayor Oh also criticized Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea. He pointed out, "A bigger problem is the spread of 'false peace theory' within our own ranks. A typical example is Lee Jae-myung's sophistry, saying 'a dirty peace is better than a winning war.'" He added, "There is no other way to achieve peace than strengthening our defense capabilities," and stated, "Unconditional 'peace utopianism' is nothing but 'anti-peace.'"

Mayor Oh concluded, "No matter how harsh Kim Jong-un's threats become, Seoul will not be shaken. We will work closely with the Capital Defense Command to thoroughly maintain Seoul’s defense posture for the safety of our citizens."
