Hyundai Construction-Seoul City Fundesign Facility Expansion MOU
Hyundai Construction announced on the 17th that it signed a 'MOU for the Expansion of Fun Design Facilities' with the Seoul Metropolitan Government at the Seoul City Hall main building. The event was attended by Lee Han-woo, Head of Hyundai Construction's Housing Business Division, and Yoo Chang-soo, Deputy Mayor for Administration of Seoul, among others.
The 'Seoul Fun Design' project is an initiative launched by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in 2021, aiming to apply fun and creative designs to the urban environment to transform public spaces in Seoul into vibrant areas.
According to the MOU, Hyundai Construction will be the first domestic construction company to apply fun design facilities to apartment complexes built in Seoul. These facilities, designed by industrial designers, include shade structures, benches, and lighting made with various concepts and materials. Notably, the 'Soul Drops Bench' won main awards last year at two of the world's top three design awards, the 'iF' and the 'Reddot Design Award.'
Hyundai Construction plans to install 15 types of facilities, consisting of three types of fun design benches and one type of lighting developed last year, in multi-family housing complexes by 2029. The major Seoul complexes targeted include 'Olympic Park Foreon' in Dunchon-dong, Gangdong-gu, which will be completed this year, and 'Hillstate Gwanak Cent Ciel' in Bongcheon-dong, Gwanak-gu.
A Hyundai Construction official stated, "Through landscape designs such as playgrounds and gardens in multi-family housing complexes involving renowned domestic and international designers, Hyundai Construction will present a differentiated residential environment."
Meanwhile, Hyundai Construction achieved six awards at the 'IDEA 2024,' one of the world's top three design awards, becoming the first domestic construction company to do so, and also received the Presidential Award in the landscaping category at the 14th Korea Landscape Awards.
