Geumcheon-gu Supports Healthy Pregnancy with Freezer Subsidy... Up to 2 Million KRW Provided

Up to 1 Million KRW per Procedure, Total 2 Payments for Couples Attempting Pregnancy Using Frozen Eggs
Apply at Geumcheon-gu Health Center Within 3 Months After Procedure Without Prior Application

Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it will partially support the cost of 'assisted reproductive technology using frozen eggs' to alleviate the financial burden on couples hoping to conceive and to help ensure a healthy pregnancy.

Assisted reproductive technology using frozen eggs is a medical procedure in which eggs that were previously frozen to preserve fertility are used when a couple wishes to conceive. As the age of childbirth increases and the rate of infertility rises, the demand for this procedure is also growing.

The district will support couples attempting pregnancy and childbirth using frozen eggs by covering up to 1 million KRW per session, for a maximum of two sessions.

The support covers ▲thawing of frozen eggs ▲sperm collection ▲fertilization and confirmation ▲embryo culture and observation ▲embryo transfer ▲post-procedure stage examination fees, among others.

Couples wishing to receive support should apply to the Geumcheon-gu Public Health Center within three months after the procedure at an infertility treatment medical institution. No separate prior application is required.

However, couples diagnosed with infertility and common-law couples must apply for ‘infertile couple procedure cost support’ at the Geumcheon-gu Public Health Center before the procedure and obtain a support decision notice.

Mayor Yu Seong-hoon stated, "Recently, cases of freezing eggs in preparation for infertility have been increasing, and we hope that support for the cost of assisted reproductive technology using frozen eggs will ease the financial burden on couples hoping to conceive." He added, "We will continue to provide warm interest and support to help ensure healthy pregnancies and childbirth."
