On the 17th, Hong Jun-pyo, Mayor of Daegu, responded to Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party, who stated that "a personnel reshuffle is needed in the Presidential Office related to First Lady Kim Geon-hee," saying, "It is truly absurd and ridiculous that someone who rose rapidly as an original member of First Lady Kim's faction demands the removal of the seven members of her faction."

On the same day in the afternoon, Mayor Hong posted on his Facebook, "If you look at the Seoul Voice recording, the original First Lady Kim faction is you yourself," adding, "I want to ask whether constantly changing like a chameleon is a matter of conviction or betrayal."

He indirectly referred to the so-called 'Dogok-dong Seven' suspicion, saying, "Shouldn't the order be to remove the seven executioners around first?" and questioned, "Without thinking about overcoming difficulties through party-government unity, can this chaotic situation be resolved by causing internal strife through attacks on Yongsan rather than attacking the Democratic Party?" He continued, "This is not the end of the term but the middle, and if internal confusion is only stirred up, it would be considered treason (collaborating with the enemy) in the conservative camp," criticizing, "Differentiation should be done at the end of the term."
