On the morning of the 17th, Mayor Oh visited the Olympic Park Foreon site in Gangdong-gu and conducted a preliminary inspection with four newlywed couples who won the 'Miri Nae Jip' lottery and will be moving in here.

Also known as Long-term Jeonse Housing II, 'Miri Nae Jip' is a version of the long-term jeonse housing (SHIFT) program introduced by Mayor Oh in 2007, targeted at newlywed couples. It provides affordable long-term jeonse housing for newlyweds and offers various incentives such as extending the residency period upon childbirth and opportunities for home ownership. In July, 300 newlywed households were recruited to move into Olympic Park Foreon as the first 'Miri Nae Jip' residents, with a maximum competition rate of 213 to 1, showing great popularity. The winners will move in this December.

On the day, Mayor Oh toured the 59㎡ exclusive area where the newlywed couples will live and held a meeting at the 'Sky Lounge,' a resident community facility located on the 35th floor. The newlywed couples attending the preliminary inspection and meeting shared their difficulties related to childcare and housing costs, and talked about their impressions and stories of winning the 'Miri Nae Jip' lottery.

Ms. Lee, who is raising a one-year-old child, said, "We had been living in an older apartment, so there was a lack of playgrounds for the child to run and play, but I am relieved that we can provide a comfortable space for my eldest child and the second child who will be born soon." She added, "I feel at ease knowing that I don't have to worry about moving thanks to the affordable rent."

Mr. Kim, who has a three-year-old and a one-month-old baby born last month, said, "Since both my spouse and I work, we hadn't considered long-term jeonse housing before, but we won this time." He added, "I am most happy that we can raise our children stably in the neighborhood where I have lived since childhood."

Mayor Oh said, "Meeting the people who will actually move in just three months after announcing the supply of long-term jeonse housing and seeing their happiness makes me think we should increase the supply as much as possible and diversify the types to encourage marriage and childbirth." He responded, "We will make every effort, including housing support, to solve the low birthrate problem."

The city plans to continuously expand the 'Miri Nae Jip' program. In August, 327 households were recruited across six complexes including Lotte Castle Eastpole in Jayang-dong, Gwangjin-gu, and Hillstate I-Pyeonhan Sesang in Munjeong-dong, Songpa-gu. In December, 400 households will be recruited in preferred areas for newlyweds such as Seocho and Seongdong districts. This includes Maple Xi in Jamwon-dong, Seocho-gu, Cheonggye SK View in Yongdap-dong, Seongdong-gu, and Hillstate Cheongnyangni Metroble in Yongdu-dong, Dongdaemun-gu.

A Seoul city official said, "From 2026, we are exploring various measures, including utilizing newly built purchase rental housing, to steadily supply more than 4,000 households annually," adding, "We are also considering establishing a dedicated organization."
