Aoi Harada (24), a former member of the popular Japanese girl group Sakura-zaka46, has attracted attention by sharing her thoughts on transitioning from an idol to an announcer.
In an interview with Daily Sports Online on the 16th, Harada said, "Even though I had stage experience as an idol, working as an announcer was a completely different challenge," revealing the difficulties she faced when starting her career as an announcer.
Harada recalled, "People might think, 'Since you have experience performing on stage, you must be familiar,' but I was doing something entirely different," adding, "I was very nervous because I didn’t know much about workplace manners or rules as an office worker." She also confessed, "After joining, I made the most mistakes reading kanji incorrectly." She continued, "Since then, I have been working hard to research and study so I don’t repeat those mistakes."
Currently, Harada is handling various genres of programs and is being anticipated as a future leading announcer. Regarding the ongoing program Mezamashi TV, she said, "Since many people watch during busy mornings, I try to deliver information clearly and simply," adding, "Because it is broadcast live, the atmosphere on site is important. I pay attention to smoothly transitioning to the next topic within the allotted time."

Harada is said to be doing her best to become an excellent announcer. She stated, "The way you speak through the screen greatly affects how the message is conveyed," and "I watch every broadcast again to consider what tension and volume are appropriate." She added, "I want to be an announcer who delivers messages sincerely and honestly. I want to be a truthful communicator whom viewers can trust and rely on."
Born in 2000, Harada is from Tokyo and graduated from Hosei University’s Faculty of Sociology. She was active as a member of Sakura-zaka46 until 2022. Sakura-zaka46 enjoys high popularity in Japan, having won the Popularity Award at the 2023 Asia Artist Awards in the Philippines (2023 AAA) held last year. In that vote, Sakura-zaka46 secured an overwhelming first place with 2,572,760 votes and a 55.1% share, proving their exceptional popularity.
