Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Inje-gun announced on the 17th that Choi Sang-gi, the county governor, received a plaque of appreciation for his contributions to the promotion of library culture at the opening ceremony and awards ceremony of the '61st National Library Conference' held on the 16th at High1 Resort in Jeongseon-gun.

The Korea Library Association (President Kwak Seung-jin), which hosted this event, holds the largest national library festival and exhibition every year. This year, they especially selected individuals who contributed to the promotion of library culture as meritorious persons and presented plaques of appreciation.

Governor Choi Sang-gi was recognized for his efforts in promoting library culture by establishing and revitalizing the operation of the Inje Miracle Library, earning him the plaque of appreciation.

The Inje Miracle Library, which opened in June last year, surpassed 100,000 visitors within one year of its opening and has recorded approximately 143,000 visitors to date, firmly establishing itself as a landmark of Inje-gun.

Inje-gun analyzed that the steady increase in visitors was driven by operating various planned programs that residents could participate in, such as children's puppet shows, small concerts, and meetings with authors, based on distinctive architectural design and highly functional spatial structure.

Additionally, producing and exhibiting specialized content featuring Inje-gun's ecological resources and historical culture and providing it online is regarded as a nationwide advanced case. As a result, 3,354 people from 176 institutions and organizations, including Guro-gu in Seoul, Seongnam-si in Gyeonggi-do, and Jeju-si, visited for benchmarking.

In the future, Inje-gun plans to respond to the steadily increasing demand and provide high-quality cultural services to residents through solid management and diverse library programs.

Governor Choi Sang-gi of Inje-gun said, “We will continue to support the promotion of reading culture so that the Inje Miracle Library, open to everyone, functions as a hub of knowledge, culture, and communication and establishes itself as a landmark.”
