Gangbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) announced on the 17th that it will hold the ‘2024 Gangbuk Education Expo’ around the Gangbuk-gu Office Plaza from the 1st to the 2nd of next month.
This expo will be held under the slogan ‘Meeting a Greater Future.’ Building on last year’s Career and College Admission Expo, the scope of the expo has been expanded to include lifelong education, a Future Education District joint festival, and humanities lectures, allowing not only students but anyone to access a variety of educational information.
The expo venue includes Gangbuk-gu Office (13 Dobong-ro 89-gil, Gangbuk-gu), the plaza, Gangbuk-gu Pilot Public Parking Lot (10 Hancheon-ro 139ga-gil), and the Dobong-ro 89-gil area, running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
On the 1st, starting at 10 a.m. at the Gangbuk-gu Office Plaza, promotional videos from seven local high schools will be screened. From 12 p.m., school club performances will follow, including Sinil High School (orchestra), Seongam International Trade High School (dance), Seoul Design High School (hip-hop and rap), Seguru Design High School (hip-hop dance), Korea National University of Arts (traditional arts), and Control Beat Korea (dance).
Also, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Gangbuk-gu Office auditorium, EBS chief lecturer Yoon Yoon-gu will give a lecture on the high school credit system and university admissions, which will be fully implemented in 2025. From 1 p.m., seven high schools within Gangbuk-gu (Seongam International Trade High School, Younghoon High School, Samgaksan High School, Solsaem High School, Hyehwa Girls’ High School, Changmun Girls’ High School, Sinil High School) along with nearby high schools including Seoul National University High School, Seondeok High School, Sungshin Women’s High School, and Joongang High School?a total of 11 schools?will provide students and parents with information about school management directions.
At 2 p.m., the opening ceremony and a talk concert titled ‘The Challenge of the Second-in-Command, Do Not Fear Reckless Challenges’ by broadcaster Park Myung-soo will take place. On the same day, in the Gangbuk-gu Office Planning Situation Room (3rd floor), former admissions officers will offer one-on-one counseling, career aptitude tests, and mentoring for university majors such as education and nursing. In the multipurpose meeting room (6th floor), YouTuber ‘Igwahyeong’ will conduct a science academy explaining light and waves by solving a fictional murder case.
On the 2nd, at 10 a.m. in the Gangbuk-gu Office Plaza, the ‘5th Democratic Citizen Golden Bell’ will be held, and from 2:30 p.m., lecturer and author Kim Mi-kyung will deliver a special lecture titled ‘Parents with Self-Esteem, Successful Children.’ In the Planning Situation Room and multipurpose meeting room at the district office, educational theater ‘Wait’ from the community-linked project ‘The Learning,’ character-building theater, a musical in English for emotional growth, and a craft program presentation will also take place.
Additionally, at outdoor expo venues such as the Gangbuk-gu Office Plaza, the road in front of the Girl Statue, and the Pilot Public Parking Lot, 36 exciting booths including those for the 4th Industrial Revolution?featuring drones, tank robots, and smart farm AI?will be operated for hands-on experiences.

For the expo, traffic will be restricted on Dobong-ro 89-gil (from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and parts of Hancheon-ro 139-gil (from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) on the 1st and 2nd of next month.
Mayor Lee Soon-hee said, “The power to change the future lies in education,” adding, “This year, we have prepared a rich variety of events in one place so that everyone from youth to adults can gain valuable educational information. We hope many residents interested will participate.”
