As news broke that a fan who asked singer Jessi for a photo was assaulted, sparking controversy, a woman claiming to have experienced a similar incident in the past has come forward.
On the 16th, JTBC's 'Case Judge' reported the story of informant A, who stated, "In 2013, I was gang assaulted by Jessi and her entourage at a club in Itaewon." According to the report, A is a Korean-American who immigrated to the United States at the age of two and came to Korea in 2010 to experience life in her homeland. In May 2013, before returning to the U.S., she visited a club located in Itaewon. There, she encountered Jessi and three of her friends and claimed she was assaulted indiscriminately without any clear reason.
A explained, "We met in the club restroom, and I let them go in first, but they started a fight without any reason and hit me." She added, "Jessi and her friends hit me and tried to shove my face into the toilet. Then they took my bag and said, 'If you kneel and apologize, we'll give it back.'" She filed a complaint about the incident, but Jessi maintained her innocence, stating, "My friends and the other party got into a fight, and I just tried to break it up. I never hit anyone."
After A withdrew the complaint and left for the U.S., some domestic media outlets reported that "the informant withdrew the complaint, and Jessi later admitted she was not involved in the assault." However, A refuted this, saying, "That is not true at all. Jessi has never admitted she didn’t hit me. She clearly did." She explained, "I had planned to go to the U.S. due to work issues and had already purchased my plane ticket when the incident occurred. The legal process took about a year, and since it was difficult to leave the country while the complaint was active, I had no choice but to withdraw it."
Regarding the recent assault case involving Jessi, A expressed disbelief, saying, "Jessi’s side claims the perpetrator has left the country and is not in Korea, which is exactly the same as before." She added, "(The perpetrator) is supposedly Chinese. It’s ridiculous." Finally, A asked, "Please convey to the victims and their parents that I understand what they are going through," and added, "It breaks my heart to hear that such things have happened. I hope they recover quickly both mentally and physically."

Earlier, on the 29th of last month, an incident occurred in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, where a minor fan was assaulted by a nearby man after requesting a photo with Jessi. In response, Jessi appeared at the Gangnam Police Station on the afternoon of the 16th for questioning. She told reporters, "I hope the person who hit them is found quickly and punished. I saw the perpetrator for the first time on the day of the incident. I am very sorry to the victim."
