Seoul Superintendent of Education Voter Turnout is 23.48%
By-election Voter Turnout for Basic Local Government Heads is 53.9%

The final voter turnout for the October 16 by-elections to elect four basic local government heads and the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education Superintendent was tentatively tallied at 24.62%.

The National Election Commission announced on the 16th that out of 8,645,180 eligible voters in five electoral districts, 2,128,077 participated in the voting.


The turnout rate reflects the combined total of early voting conducted on the 11th and 12th and absentee voting.


By electoral district, the voter turnout for the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education Superintendent by-election was recorded at 23.48%.


The voter turnout for the Busan Geumjeong-gu District Mayor by-election was 47.2%, and for the Incheon Ganghwa-gun County Governor by-election, it was 58.3%.


The turnout for the Jeonnam Gokseong-gun County Governor election was 64.6%, and for the Yeonggwang-gun County Governor election, it was 70.1%.


The voter turnout in the four districts where basic local government head by-elections were held was 53.9%.


This is higher than the 48.7% turnout in the Seoul Gangseo-gu District Mayor by-election held on October 11 last year and the nationwide average turnout of 50.9% in the June 1, 2022 local elections.
