Seoul Metro (President Baek Ho) announced that it jointly held the ‘2024 Seoul Social Welfare Walking Festival’ with the Seoul Metropolitan Social Welfare Council on the 16th and donated 40 million KRW matched to the number of steps taken.
Now in its 16th year, the ‘Seoul Social Welfare Walking Festival’ is a health-sharing festival co-hosted by Seoul Metro and the Seoul Metropolitan Social Welfare Council, sponsored by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and S-OIL. As of last year, the cumulative number of participants reached approximately 100,000.
About 2,000 people, including citizens, Seoul Metro employees and their families, and social welfare organization officials, participated in the ‘Seoul Social Welfare Walking Festival,’ making it a great success. Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, Kim Hyun-hoon, Chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Social Welfare Council, and Kim Kwang-nam, Executive Director of S-OIL, also joined the citizens.
The event was held by walking a round trip of 3.6 km from Yeouido Hangang Park Multi Plaza to Seogang Bridge. In addition, various enjoyable activities such as a prize drawing event were prepared.
Seoul Metro accepted pre-registrations from citizens through promotional materials posted at Seoul subway stations and its website starting from October 4.
In line with the purpose of the event, Seoul Metro donated 40 million KRW matched to the participants’ number of steps to the Seoul Metropolitan Social Welfare Council. The donation will be used to support cold wave relief for energy-vulnerable groups in the local community.
Baek Ho, President of Seoul Metro, said, “Marking the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Seoul subway, we have been expressing our gratitude for the love and support we have received by carrying out various social contribution activities such as sharing bread of love, supporting homeless shelters linked with plogging, and children’s safety experience events. I am very pleased to be able to share warmth once again with the citizens and contribute to the local community through this event.”
