Gangdong-gu to Hold Recruitment Briefing on 25th for IKEA Gangdong Store Opening Next Year

Gangdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Soo-hee) announced on the 16th that it will hold a recruitment briefing session for IKEA Gangdong at the Gangdong-gu Community Center on the 25th.

This recruitment briefing session is aimed at hiring about 200 employees for IKEA Gangdong, which is scheduled to open in the first half of 2025. IKEA Gangdong will be the fifth store of IKEA Korea and the first to open within downtown Seoul. It will be located on the 1st and 2nd floors of a complex shopping mall (Godeok I-Park Dearban) in Godeok Biz Valley, with a total floor area of 58,711㎡.

At the briefing session, current employees working in commercial departments such as sales, food, and customer support, as well as operations departments responsible for logistics, will directly participate to provide job seekers with detailed information about the roles and share their experiences at IKEA. Additionally, there will be a session introducing IKEA Korea’s corporate culture and HR policies.

IKEA Gangdong offers jobs with various working hours, including full-time positions as well as options for 16, 24, or 32 hours per week. Regardless of working hours or contract type, IKEA Korea sets compensation based on the same standards and provides all employees with equal work environments, four major social insurances, and career development opportunities along with welfare benefits.

Jo Jeong-sook, Director of the Job Policy Division of Gangdong-gu, said, “The entry of IKEA has raised great expectations among local residents,” and added, “We will do our best to coexist with companies in Godeok Biz Valley and provide quality jobs to residents.”

Meanwhile, anyone interested in IKEA Gangdong can attend this recruitment briefing session without prior registration. Applications will be accepted through IKEA’s official recruitment website starting at the end of this month. Applicants can also submit their applications online at the briefing session, and the final successful candidates selected through document screening and interviews will begin working sequentially from January next year.
