Subdivision into Green Economic City, Sustainable City, and Future-Oriented City
Selection of 33 Service Models, Step-by-Step Implementation Policy
Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) held the final presentation of the 'Smart City Mid- to Long-term Master Plan Research Project' and unveiled the Dongdaemun-gu-style smart city blueprint to be pursued over the next five years.
According to the final presentation held on the 15th at the district office's Planning Situation Room, the vision for the Dongdaemun-gu-style smart city is a "happy city Dongdaemun where digital spaces are connected centered on people."
The Dongdaemun-gu-style smart city is characterized as ▲ a "green economy city" growing by securing urban competitiveness ▲ a "sustainable city" created together through participation and empathy ▲ a "future-oriented city" evolving through technology and data.
To this end, the district selected a total of 33 smart city service models and plans to promote them step-by-step by classifying the development direction of each service into 'life-oriented, technology-leading, and region-specialized' categories.
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, "The establishment of this mid- to long-term master plan clearly demonstrates our commitment to developing a Dongdaemun-gu-style smart city," adding, "We ask for the active efforts of each department and the empathy and support of residents to create a sustainable smart city."
As part of the smart city creation project, Dongdaemun-gu has been operating the 'Smart Mayor's Office' equipped with a big data-based integrated situation system since July this year.
In the Smart Mayor's Office, six 55-inch displays are connected as one screen, allowing a comprehensive view of various district administration indicators such as disaster safety situations and road traffic conditions occurring within the region at a glance.
