‘The Gyeonggi Pass’ Chosen by 1 Million People... Average Monthly Refund of 20,000 Won per Person Gyeonggi Pass Application Poster.

If you are a resident of Gyeonggi Province, 'The Gyeonggi Pass (The 경기패스)', which refunds part of the transportation costs for all public transportation nationwide, has surpassed 1 million subscribers just five months after its launch.

According to Gyeonggi Province on the 16th, as of the afternoon of that day, the total number of nationwide subscribers to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's K-Pass linked with The Gyeonggi Pass reached 2.37 million, of which 1 million were Gyeonggi residents, the highest number among all K-Pass subscribers nationwide.

Among new subscribers, out of 1.51 million new K-Pass subscribers, 700,000 were new The Gyeonggi Pass subscribers, the largest number.

Analysis of The Gyeonggi Pass usage data by Gyeonggi Province showed that about 80% (800,000) of the 1 million subscribers used public transportation more than 15 times per month and were eligible for refunds, with an average refund of about 20,000 KRW per person.

The average monthly public transportation usage per refund recipient also increased from 29 times in May to 40 times in August, an increase of about 10 times per month, indicating that The Gyeonggi Pass is effective both in promoting public transportation use and alleviating transportation fare burdens.

For children and adolescents aged 6 to 18 who cannot use The Gyeonggi Pass, Gyeonggi Province is currently supporting 240,000 KRW annually through the 'Gyeonggi Province Children and Youth Transportation Cost Support Project,' which has received applications from 420,000 people.

Accordingly, adding the 1 million Gyeonggi Pass subscribers and the 420,000 children and youth transportation support project subscribers results in 1.42 million people, which is more than half of the 2.71 million daily public transportation users in Gyeonggi Province, receiving transportation cost support benefits.

Nam Sang-eun, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Transportation Bureau, said, "It has been confirmed that The Gyeonggi Pass plays a significant role in promoting public transportation use while providing practical help to residents by reducing transportation cost burdens. We will expand benefits so that more residents can receive them and strengthen connections with other policies within the province."

The Gyeonggi Pass is a transportation cost support program tailored for Gyeonggi residents, based on the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's K-Pass project, designed to provide additional benefits to Gyeonggi residents by reflecting the transportation characteristics of the province.

The Gyeonggi Pass removes the K-Pass monthly limit of 60 rides, expands the youth age range from 19-34 to 19-39, and refunds 20-53% of monthly public transportation costs (30% for youth in their 20s and 30s, 20% for general users aged 40 and above, and 53% for low-income groups). Refunds are available nationwide for bus, subway, intercity bus, GTX, Shinbundang Line, and other public transportation usage.

Residents who wish to use The Gyeonggi Pass can obtain a K-Pass dedicated card (credit/check card, etc.) through the K-Pass website or the websites of various card companies (Shinhan, KB Kookmin, NH Nonghyup, Woori, Hana, Samsung, Hyundai, BC, IBK Industrial Bank, Gwangju Bank, K-Bank, Lee Dong-ui Jeulgeoum, DGB U-Pay), then register as a member on the K-Pass website. During registration, address verification is conducted, and once confirmed as a Gyeonggi resident, The Gyeonggi Pass benefits are automatically applied.
