Hong Joon-pyo, Mayor of Daegu Metropolitan City, strongly criticized polling agencies, calling them 'pseudo'.

On the morning of the 16th, Mayor Hong posted on his social media (SNS) that "polling agencies need to be reformed." He argued, "Installing a few ARS machines and misleading public opinion through commissioned work, sampling manipulation, and order production, while acting as if a 2-3% response rate represents the entire public opinion, is a wrong practice that must change."

He continued, "Polling brokers are widespread nationwide, and during election seasons, election fraudsters run rampant through primary manipulation. ARS polls that only extreme supporters respond to should be abolished, and publication of polls with less than 15% response rate should be prohibited." He added, "When I was the leader of the Liberty Korea Party, I strongly pushed for reforming these pseudo polling agencies, but as an opposition and minority party, there was no achievement. I hope the Democratic Party will take the lead in reforming these corrupt polling agencies following the Myeong Tae-gyun fraudulent polling incident."

Earlier, Mayor Hong denied claims that his presidential campaign team requested polls from Mr. Myeong Tae-gyu during the 2021 People Power Party presidential primary. On the 14th, he said on SNS, "There is no illegal fact, but the election broker Mr. Myeong, who is exposing and talking nonsense as if our side committed illegal acts, should be promptly arrested by the prosecution."
