'Heukbaek Yori-sa' Cafeteria Chef Chooses Stir-fry Over Baeksuk, Soup, and Jangjorim with Ogolgae Chicken

'Heukbaek Yori-sa' Cafeteria Counter, Filming Behind-the-Scenes Revealed
"All I Can Say Is Thank You..."

Lee Mi-young, known as the 'School Meal Master' who gained popularity by appearing on Netflix's 'Black and White Chef,' revealed behind-the-scenes stories of the filming.

On the 15th, a video titled 'School Meal Master and Black and White Chef' was released on the YouTube channel 'School Meal Master.' In the video, Lee recalled the process of selecting 20 Black Spoon contestants, saying, "Since many people worked in the food service industry, I thought I definitely wouldn't make it into the top 20." She added, "After the first round, I only thought, 'I should quickly go home and rest.'"

She said that when Chef Ahn Seong-jae, a judge, postponed the decision in the first round, "Since it was postponed, I naturally thought I wouldn't pass," and added, "Even when I was finally selected, I thought, 'Me?'"

Lee also shared behind-the-scenes stories about the second mission, '1-on-1 Black and White Battle,' which was edited out of the broadcast. At that time, she made spicy braised chicken using Ogolgae (Korean black chicken) and won 2-0 against a White Spoon chef.

She said, "I had cooked chicken many times, but it was my first time encountering Ogolgae. I worried the most about how to cook it," and added, "I considered making it as boiled chicken, soup, or jangjorim (soy-braised chicken)." Lee said, "I think not many people have eaten Ogolgae as a stir-fry," and added, "I put a lot of thought into the menu, and my family's help was a big support." She explained, "Since I cooked for 120 servings at school, one dish didn't take much time. As Seungwoo's dad said, I calculated how the flavor would soak in if the food was prepared in advance."

However, Lee said she expected to be eliminated in the second mission. She recalled, "The judges said something, but I didn't hear it. I was only thinking, 'Will I win or lose?' so I was probably dazed," and added, "I wasn't expecting it at all, but when they said 2:0, I reacted like, 'Oh, really?'" She also mentioned that she plans to reveal the recipe for the Ogolgae stir-fried chicken stew.

Lee also shared stories about being on a team with Napoli Mafia (Kwon Seong-jun), who won first place, and Edward Lee (Lee Gyun), who was the runner-up. She said, "When our team was eliminated, I hoped the two of them would advance again," and added, "When they made it to the finals, I even applauded and said it was great."

Finally, Lee said, "Many people recognize me and give me kind words. I have nothing to say but thank you," and added, "I am very grateful and thankful."
