The newly opened Hwacheon High School will be able to recruit students nationwide beyond the local area and operate specialized curricula desired by parents.

However, after the new building opens in March 2029, the school will expand significantly to eight classes per grade, totaling 24 classes. The number of students is expected to exceed the current 200, reaching up to 176 students per grade and a total of 528 students school-wide.

The various scholarship programs, overseas backpacking and language study trips, full-day elementary care services, and expert career and college counseling offices provided by the autonomous public high school for military children offer top-level educational support nationwide, making it an attractive benefit not only for high school students but also for military families with elementary and middle school children.
Additionally, the housing supply projects that Hwacheon-gun has been focusing on since the 8th local government administration are expected to alleviate housing concerns for military families. Hwacheon-gun is currently developing public rental housing throughout the region and preparing residential sites where country houses can be built.
Moreover, the Ministry of National Defense is actively promoting the construction of military apartments, including a 586-unit, 14-story officer dormitory complex in the Sang-ri area of Hwacheon-eup.
Choi Moon-soon, Governor of Hwacheon-gun, stated, “With the opening of Hwacheon High School in 2029, we will do our best to improve living conditions so that more military families can establish their homes in Hwacheon.”
