When Trading Used Items on Danggeun, Use 'Safe Payment'

Carrot Pay Introduces Secure Payment Feature

Danggeun Pay is launching a secure payment service in certain areas of Seoul. On the 16th, Danggeun announced that it has introduced the ‘Secure Payment’ feature to its own simple payment service, Danggeun Pay. This aims to enhance user convenience by expanding payment options in various situations such as non-face-to-face transactions and to create a more trustworthy transaction environment.

Secure Payment is a method where the payment amount, which has been deposited in advance, is paid to the seller once the buyer confirms the purchase after checking the item. Danggeun Pay plans to start the service in Seocho, Gangnam, Songpa, Dongjak, and Gangdong districts of Seoul, and expand the secure payment service nationwide within the year by reflecting user feedback.

When Trading Used Items on Danggeun, Use 'Safe Payment'

To use the Secure Payment feature, both the seller and buyer must be registered with Danggeun Pay, and the buyer’s checked-in neighborhood must be within the service area. The buyer can request secure payment by pressing the ‘Danggeun Pay’ button at the top of the chat room and selecting ‘Secure Payment.’ The transaction proceeds once the seller confirms and accepts the request.

As soon as the user who received the item confirms the purchase, the item amount is safely transferred to the seller, and 2% of the transaction amount is deducted from the buyer’s Danggeun Money as a secure payment usage fee. Secure Payment is an optional feature that users can choose as needed, and users can still select from Danggeun Money transfer, bank transfer, or Secure Payment as before.

With the introduction of this Secure Payment feature, it is expected that a safer and healthier transaction environment will be established even in unavoidable non-face-to-face transactions or high-value item transactions. By providing buyers with various payment method options, users can actively decide whether to use Secure Payment, enhancing both convenience and safety. For sellers, real-time settlement upon purchase confirmation increases immediacy and prevents side effects such as raising sale prices to cover fees when pricing items.

Kim Young-sam, head of the Danggeun Pay payment service team, said, “Although most Danggeun secondhand transactions are conducted face-to-face, we introduced the Secure Payment feature to protect users and enhance convenience considering various situations including non-face-to-face transactions,” adding, “We will continue to make various institutional and technical efforts to provide a transaction environment that satisfies users.”
