Gyeonggi-do, 58 Surveying Companies Violating Laws Detected

Gyeonggi-do, 58 Surveying Companies Violating Laws Detected Gyeonggi Provincial Government

Gyeonggi Province has identified 58 companies violating related laws through inspections of surveying firms.

From April to September, Gyeonggi Province conducted focused inspections on 1,187 public, general, and cadastral surveying companies managed by the province to check compliance with legal registration standards for surveying technicians and equipment, validity periods of surveying equipment performance inspections, and maintenance of registration standards.

The inspection results revealed a total of 58 violations, including ▲4 cases of failure to meet registration standards (technical personnel) ▲32 cases of delayed change notifications (representative, technical personnel, etc.) ▲4 cases of failure to report suspension or closure ▲18 cases of delayed surveying equipment performance inspections. This represents a 39% decrease compared to 96 cases last year.

According to the current "Spatial Information Management Act," if there are changes in surveying business registration details, the changes must be reported within 30 days from the date of occurrence (for changes in business name, location, or representative) or within 90 days (for changes in technical personnel or equipment). Violations may result in administrative penalties such as fines up to 1 million KRW or business suspension.

Gyeonggi Province is proceeding with cancellation of registration for 4 companies found to be below registration standards through the inspections. Additionally, fines will be imposed on 32 companies that operated without reporting changes. Furthermore, 18 violating companies related to delayed surveying equipment performance inspections have been reported to the Director of the National Geographic Information Institute, who has the authority to impose fines.

Choi Min-gyu, head of the Cadastral Management Team at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "The decrease in violations compared to last year indicates that the industry's awareness of legal compliance is gradually improving. We will continue to enforce strong administrative measures against companies violating related laws to prevent surveying damages to residents."
