Changwon Native Singer Jang Yeju Becomes Honorary Maritime Police Officer of Changwon Coast Guard

Trot singer Jang Ye-ju has become an honorary maritime police officer at the Changwon Maritime Police Station in Gyeongnam.


The Changwon Maritime Police Station announced that it appointed Jang Ye-ju as an honorary maritime police officer to promote and establish a national maritime safety culture.


On the 14th, Kim Young-chul, chief of the Changwon Maritime Police Station, presented Jang with a plaque and a certificate of appointment in the main conference room.


About 20 employees of the Changwon Maritime Police Station, including department heads and section chiefs, attended the appointment ceremony.

Jang said, "I am honored to become an honorary maritime police officer at the Changwon Maritime Police Station that protects the sea of my hometown, Changwon," and added, "I express my gratitude to the maritime police who work day and night for a safe sea."


She continued, "As I have been appointed as an honorary maritime police officer, I will work hard with a sense of responsibility to promote maritime safety culture and widely publicize the maritime police."


Chief Kim said, "I am pleased that Jang Ye-ju, who was born and raised in Changwon, has been appointed as an honorary maritime police officer of the Changwon Maritime Police Station," and added, "I hope we can carry out various maritime safety campaigns together and raise public awareness of the importance of maritime safety."

Singer Jang Ye-ju was born in 2001 in Changwon, Gyeongnam, and is known as a native who graduated from elementary, middle, and high schools in Changwon.


She participated in the 2018 National Singing Contest and won the Popularity Award, received grand prizes at the 2021 Gomoryeong Song Festival, the 2022 Jeonguisong Song Festival, and the Goboksu Song Festival, and gained recognition after competing in the high school division of Miss Trot 1. She has appeared on various TV programs such as Morning Yard.


On this day, Jang, who holds the rank of corporal, participated in the SOS Button Challenge and life jacket wearing campaign as her first activity as an honorary maritime police officer.


The SOS rescue button pressing campaign is being promoted to raise awareness of the importance of sending SOS distress signals from fishing boats and other vessels and wearing life jackets.


Jang will serve as an honorary maritime police officer affiliated with the Changwon Maritime Police Station for the next two years, dedicating herself to promoting the maritime police and establishing a maritime safety culture.
