On the 15th, Gyeonggi Province held the '2024 Gwangneung Forest Biosphere Reserve Photo and Phrase Contest Award Ceremony' at the Peace Talk Hall of the Northern Office of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government and awarded 40 winning works.
The 'Gwangneung Forest Biosphere Reserve Photo and Phrase Contest' was held to widely promote the hidden value of the Gwangneung Forest UNESCO Biosphere Reserve through the art of photography and phrases.
Earlier, from July 1 to August 16, the province held a contest featuring the natural scenery, ecological resources, history and culture, events, and tourist attractions of the Gwangneung Forest Biosphere Reserve, receiving 442 photos (digital camera, mobile phone camera) and 591 phrases. After screening, a total of 40 winning works were selected: 3 grand prizes, 4 excellence awards, 4 encouragement awards, and 29 honorable mentions.
To prevent plagiarism and unauthorized use, online and offline public verification was conducted through the Gyeonggi Province website from August 26 to September 15.
The prestigious grand prizes were awarded to 'Where Birds Quench Their Thirst' in the digital camera photo category, 'Let's Be Together in Gwangneung Forest' in the mobile phone camera photo category, and 'The Breath of Life Gwangneung Forest, Eternal Natural Heritage' in the phrase category.
Winners of the encouragement award and above received certificates and prize money from the Governor of Gyeonggi Province, while other winners were given a nominal prize.
The province plans to use the winning works from the contest as various materials to promote the Gwangneung Forest Biosphere Reserve, including at the 'Gwangneung Forest Forum.'
Seok Yong-hwan, Director of the Forest and Greenery Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, "Through the contest, we were able to confirm the high interest and love for the Gwangneung Forest Biosphere Reserve," adding, "We will work harder to promote and preserve the value of Gwangneung Forest both domestically and internationally."
