Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) held the 'Mapo Garden Festival' on the afternoon of the 15th at the Shinsu-dong Temporary Garden and declared 'Mapo, the City of Flowers and Gardens.'
'Mapo, the City of Flowers and Gardens' is a vision proclaimed by Mapo-gu to enhance residents' quality of life by allowing them to connect with nature, where flowers and trees harmonize throughout the neighborhood, and to practice carbon neutrality in line with the climate crisis era.
About 100 people, including Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, citizen gardeners, children from local daycare centers, and residents, gathered at the festival opening ceremony to celebrate the birth of 'Mapo, the City of Flowers and Gardens.'
On this day, Mayor Park Gang-su announced the successful start of 'Mapo, the City of Flowers and Gardens' by personally planting flowers in the garden after proclaiming the vision. Afterwards, he spent time in harmony with residents by visiting the 'Citizen Gardening Education' and 'Garden Decorative Stone Making' experience sites prepared by Mapo-gu.
The garden festival for 'Mapo, the City of Flowers and Gardens' will continue with various programs until October 18.
Mayor Park Gang-su of Mapo-gu said, “To incorporate the power of flowers and gardens into daily life, we have created the 'Nanji Theme Tourism Forest Trail,' Dohwa-dong's 'Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter Park,' and the Mapo-gu Health Center Sunlight Center's 'Flower Path,' and we plan to continue creating nature-friendly spaces throughout the city. We will do our best to make 'Mapo, the City of Flowers and Gardens' a place where everyone can heal and gain healthy energy anywhere.”
