Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) will begin the 10th ocean discharge of contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant on the 17th.
According to NHK on the 15th, the 10th discharge will continue until the 4th of next month, with a discharge volume of 7,800 tons, the same as previous rounds.
TEPCO stated that analysis of samples taken from measurement and verification tanks confirmed that the concentration of radioactive substances such as tritium met the standards.
The 10th discharge corresponds to the 6th of seven planned discharges TEPCO intends to carry out in fiscal year 2024 (April 2024 to March 2025).
TEPCO has announced that after completing the 10th discharge this year, it plans to conduct the 11th discharge in February to March next year.
So far, TEPCO has discharged about 70,000 tons of contaminated water into the sea in front of the nuclear power plant. As of the 3rd of this month, the amount of contaminated water stored at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant is 1,303,000 tons.
