Kim Juwon Appointed as Representative and Artistic Director of Korea Ballet Festival

Successfully Leading the Busan Ballet Season This Year

Ballerina Kim Juwon has been appointed as the new CEO and artistic director of the Korea Ballet Festival. The Korea Ballet Festival Promotion Committee announced Kim's appointment on the 15th. Her term will last until October 2027.

The Korea Ballet Festival, now in its 14th year, is the largest ballet festival in the country. Public and private ballet companies from across Korea present various performances over approximately 20 days at venues such as the Seoul Arts Center.


Kim, who has taken the helm, graduated from the Bolshoi Ballet School in Russia. She joined the National Ballet Company as a principal dancer in 1998 and performed actively for 15 years. In 2006, she received the Best Female Dancer Award at the Benois de la Danse, the most prestigious honor in the dance world.


In March of this year, she was appointed artistic director of the Busan Opera House Ballet Company and successfully led the '2024 Busan Ballet Season.'
