Yeoju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Chung-woo) announced on the 15th that on the 12th, during the 9th Lifelong Learning and Resident Autonomy Festival, the "2024 Yeoju Adult Literacy Sejong Hangeul Golden Bell" was held at the Yeoju Women's Center performance hall.
About 130 learners studying Hangeul and other subjects at Yeoju literacy education institutions such as Our Neighborhood Sejong Learning Center and the Senior Welfare Center participated, showcasing their efforts and skills to the fullest.
In this event, participants were divided into four teams: Blue, Purple, Red, and Green. They played team games such as word chain and fastest ball transfer, as well as individual problem-solving. In particular, participants from the Sangsan-ri Sejong Learning Center and the Senior Welfare Center elevated the event's lively atmosphere with a talent show dance performed to cheerful songs they had prepared diligently.
An official from the Lifelong Education Department said, "It was a very meaningful and precious time for the elderly students who usually study together in different locations to come together and study the same material in the same place for the first time this year." They added, "We hope everyone enjoyed and relaxed during the Lifelong Learning and Resident Autonomy Festival and the Golden Bell event in the full bloom of autumn. We will continue to strive to create opportunities that help lifelong learners."
