Gwangju City announced on the 15th that it will hold the "2024 Gwangju Food Expo," the largest food exhibition in the Honam region, from the 17th to the 20th at the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center under the theme "Food Tech, Fostering Gwangju City's Future New Growth Industry."

This year, 300 companies will participate in the Gwangju Food Expo, showcasing a variety of food categories including local agricultural and marine products, food tech, beverages and desserts, health and functional foods, and food industry equipment through 450 booths all in one place.

In particular, the expo will be held alongside the Green and Agri-Tech, Liquor Tourism Festa, and International Tea Culture Exhibition. The Food Tech Special Pavilion (8 booths), featuring universities and local companies such as Chonnam National University’s Food Tech Department, Naju Food Upcycling Center, Reharvest, Oseong System, and OMO, will introduce the regional food tech industry. Additionally, visitors can explore representative food categories from various regions including the Gwangju-Daegu Moonlight Alliance Pavilion, Goheung Smart Farm Office, Local Food Special Pavilion, Bohae Brewery & Wando Geumil Fisheries Cooperative Special Pavilion, and Jeju Special Pavilion.

This year, the overseas pavilion will be the largest ever, with 30 companies from the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Guizhou Committee and 6 companies from the Cambodian Embassy participating, offering a rich variety of attractions.

Admission to the venue is free for those who pre-register, and an event will be held during the exhibition period where the first 300 visitors each day will receive commemorative gifts.

Joo Jae-hee, Director of the Economic Startup Bureau of Gwangju City, said, "This year's Gwangju Food Expo will present a more diverse and abundant range of food categories as it is held together with the Green and Agri-Tech, Liquor Tourism Festa, and International Tea Culture Exhibition," adding, "We will promote various projects to discover and nurture local agricultural food companies."
