Fans of Jimin (real name Park Jimin), a member of the group BTS, held a blood donation relay to celebrate Jimin's birthday, the Seoul Central Blood Center announced on the 15th.
Jimin's fans collaborated with the Korean Red Cross Seoul Central Blood Center and Busan Blood Center to carry out a blood donation relay project on October 13, Jimin's birthday. The Central Blood Center and Busan Blood Center conducted the blood donation relay project for about three weeks from September 21 to October 13. Over the three weeks, more than 692 fans visited, and excluding those who were ineligible, 645 people (292 at the Seoul Hongdae Center, 16 at the Seoul Station Center, and 337 at the Busan Seomyeon Center) participated in the blood donation. As a result, a total of 2,545 people have participated in blood donations over five years from 2018 to this year.
An official from the Seoul Central Blood Center said, "We thank Jimin's fans for creating a meaningful opportunity by combining the celebration of life through a birthday with the sharing of life through blood donation," and added, "We hope that this positive influence will spread nationwide starting from Seoul, encouraging more people to participate in blood donation." Fans who participated in the blood donation relay said, "We are happy and joyful to be able to become Jimin's muse, and this has become the driving force of positive influence that saves lives."
The Korean Red Cross Seoul Central Blood Center and Busan Blood Center plan to award certificates of appreciation to Jimin and his fans who participated in sharing life and promoting a culture of blood donation and healthy giving. Jimin's fans also donated a total of about 2,000 commemorative items for blood donors. This donation will be accepted until October 21 at the Blood Donation Houses in Hongdae Center, Seoul Station Center, and Busan Seomyeon Station Center.
