Simulated real situations such as sewage balloons, drone bombs, and hostage terror... Strengthening security capabilities
Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 15th that the "2024 Goyang City Local Road Actual Training" will be conducted for about two hours starting at 2 p.m. on the 22nd at the 2nd Exhibition Hall of KINTEX in Ilsan.
This training is a provincial-level exercise hosted by Gyeonggi Province and led by Goyang City. About 150 personnel from eight organizations, including the 1st Corps, 9th Division, Gyeonggi Northern Police Agency, Ilsan Western Police Station, Ilsan Fire Station, Ilsan Western District Public Health Center, and KINTEX, will participate. The exercise simulates real situations such as sewage balloons, suicide drones, and hostage terrorism.
The training consists of three parts: △ Suppression of drone terrorism and rescue of casualties △ Elimination of hostile elements and hostage terrorists △ Response to chemical and biological terrorism involving sewage balloons. Related agencies including city, county, police, and fire departments will share roles step-by-step.
In particular, the Military Police Special Task Force and Police Special Forces will jointly suppress terrorists, demonstrating helicopter rappelling entry and the activities of detection dogs.
Additionally, assuming a fire caused by North Korea’s sewage balloon terrorism, the exercise will demonstrate fire suppression and the subsequent chemical and biochemical analysis, detection, and collection procedures. This is expected to alleviate citizens’ anxiety and curiosity regarding sewage balloon terrorism.
Yoon Kwang-ok, the Citizen Safety Officer, said, “This training is an opportunity to demonstrate the cooperation system with related agencies against various terrorist threats, and we hope many citizens will observe. Through this training, we will strengthen the civil defense system that protects the three safeties (Safety, Stability, and Peace of Mind) of citizens in various terrorist threat situations.”
