Goseong County, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Ham Myeong-jun) announced on the 15th that the ‘24th Goseong Unification Pollock Festival Good Luck Festival,’ held by the Goseong Cultural Foundation (Chairman Ham Myeong-jun) from the 11th to the 13th at Gojin 11-ri Beach in Goseong County, concluded successfully with 97,000 visitors.
Night performance scenes from the '24th Goseong Unification Pollack Festival Good Luck Festival' held over three days from the 11th to the 13th at Gojin 11-ri Beach, Goseong-gun. Goseong County, known as the main production area of pollock with the best pollock fishing grounds in Korea, accounting for 70% of the national pollock catch in the 1980s, held the first Goseong Pollock Festival in 1999 to promote the taste of Goseong pollock and pride as the county fish.
The Goseong Pollock Festival, held annually at Gojin 11-ri Beach, was selected as a cultural tourism festival by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2015 and has maintained its reputation as a nationwide festival by being consecutively selected as an excellent festival in Gangwon Province since 2016.
A performance scene of 'Goseong Eoryo,' the nation's only pollock fishing chant, held at the '24th Goseong Unification Pollock Festival Good Luck Festival' conducted over three days from the 11th to the 13th at Gojin 11-ri Beach, Goseong-gun. However, due to climate change and rising temperatures, pollock no longer appear, so from this year, Goseong County transformed the pollock festival to promote the pollock processing industry and newly revamped the festival with various pollock dishes and entertainment, a representative national food.
This year’s festival, themed ‘A Festival That Brings Luck with the Energy of Pollock,’ expanded new content such as the Pollock Theme Hall and Pollock Beach Bar, created event venues, and conducted audience participation programs, increasing tourist satisfaction and receiving high praise.

The Pollock Theme Hall, exhibiting live pollock and historical records of Goseong and pollock, along with the ‘Craft Culture Hall’ featuring pollock crafts by artisans and reflecting climate change, drew attention as a new direction for the pollock festival.
Above all, family visitors stood out. The one-day class to make pollock crafts and the Pollock Playground using pollock provided enjoyable content for visitors. Additionally, the Pollock Beach Bar, where visitors could feel the romance of the autumn sea, and various photo zones were popular.
