Mapo-gu Provides Up to 640,000 KRW Vouchers for Resident Counseling on Depression and Anxiety

Voucher Support for a Total of 8 Psychological Counseling Sessions at Professional Counseling Centers
Apply by Visiting the Dong Community Center or Online at the Bokjiro Website

Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) will carry out the ‘National Mind Investment Support Project’ from July to provide professional psychological counseling to residents experiencing emotional difficulties such as depression and anxiety, and from October 2, applications will also be accepted online.

The ‘National Mind Investment Support Project’ was promoted in response to the growing interest in national mental health, viewing mental health issues not as individual problems but as social issues, and actively seeking solutions.

The support targets Mapo-gu residents who are recognized as needing psychological counseling by mental health institutions or mental health welfare centers, or those who have been identified with moderate or higher levels of depression in the national mental health screening results.

Eligible individuals will receive vouchers to access a total of eight psychological counseling sessions at professional psychological counseling institutions.

The service is divided into Level 1 and Level 2 types according to the qualification standards of the providers, with usage fees of 80,000 KRW per session for Level 1 and 70,000 KRW per session for Level 2. Government subsidies are applied differentially based on income level, supporting up to a maximum of 640,000 KRW.

Those wishing to participate in the project can conveniently apply by visiting the community service center in their residential district or through the ‘Bokjiro’ website and mobile app.

Selected residents can choose a professional psychological counseling institution for their sessions regardless of their registered address.

The status of service providers by region can be checked on the Social Service Electronic Voucher Portal.

Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, stated, “Just like physical health, mental health is an important factor that greatly affects our daily lives,” and added, “I hope this project will serve as an opportunity to care for weary minds in today’s complex and rapidly changing society.”
