The Citizens' Promotion Committee for Making Guri Part of Seoul Sees a Surge in Membership Sign-Ups

1100 Members Recruited and 100,000 Signature Campaign Conducted at Cosmos Festival

The "Guri Becoming Seoul Pan-Citizen Promotion Committee" has been recruiting members at the Guri Cosmos Festival held at Guri Hangang Citizen Park from the 11th to the 13th.

The "Guri Becoming Seoul Pan-Citizen Promotion Committee (Co-Chairs: Lee Sang-bae, Lee Chun-bon, Kwak Kyung-guk)" announced on the 14th that it conducted a large-scale membership recruitment drive at the Guri Cosmos Festival held for three days from the 11th to the 13th at Guri Hangang Citizens' Park.

The Pan-Citizen Promotion Committee for Guri Becoming Seoul (hereinafter referred to as the Promotion Committee) actively promoted the necessity and advantages of incorporating Guri City into Seoul at the festival site, and as a result of recruiting members who could join the Promotion Committee, they signed up about 1,100 members over three days and received the agreement of about 2,000 people through a petition campaign aiming for 100,000 signatures for Guri City's incorporation into Seoul.

In addition, to widely promote the push for Guri City's incorporation into Seoul to visitors at the festival, Guri Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun and members of the Promotion Committee conducted a street march campaign around the festival site using promotional placards.

Co-Chairs Lee Sang-bae, Lee Chun-bon, and Kwak Kyung-guk of the Promotion Committee said, "We are very honored to have created an opportunity to promote the incorporation into Seoul to many citizens who visited this Cosmos Festival," and added, "We will continue to actively recruit members and carry out citizen signature campaigns to ensure that all citizens can participate together in the goal of incorporating Guri City into Seoul, and we will do our best to achieve this."

Guri Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun said, "I deeply thank the executives of the Promotion Committee for creating this valuable opportunity to unite for the common goal of incorporating Guri City into Seoul," and added, "Since more than two-thirds of Guri citizens supported incorporation into Seoul according to the public opinion survey conducted last July, we will do our best to carry out administrative procedures for the enactment of a special law, starting with the ongoing effect analysis service for Seoul incorporation."
