Joo Gwang-deok, Mayor of Namyangju City (center), is signing a business agreement on the 14th at the City Hall Yeoyudang with Seo Eun-young, Education Officer of Gyeonggi-do Guri Namyangju Office of Education, and Lee Gye-moon, President of Namyangju Urban Corporation, for the efficient operation of elementary school students' survival swimming education. Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) signed a business agreement on the 14th at the City Hall Yeoyudang with the Gyeonggi-do Guri Namyangju Office of Education (Superintendent Seo Eun-kyung) and Namyangju Urban Corporation (President Lee Gye-moon) to efficiently operate survival swimming education for elementary school students.
Attending the agreement ceremony were the representatives of the participating organizations: Mayor Joo Gwang-deok of Namyangju City, Superintendent Seo Eun-kyung, President Lee Gye-moon, along with Han Geun-soo, Chairman of the Namyangju City Council's Autonomous Administration Committee, and principals from eight schools using the Survival Swimming Public Center.
Until now, the city had promoted the project through subsidy grants, which caused issues for the Office of Education and schools, such as △individual instructor recruitment △operation △double reporting and settlement, leading to excessive workload.
This agreement ceremony was held to improve these issues, and the three organizations agreed to cooperate on △transfer of special accounts for survival swimming education expenses △facility opening cooperation △matters related to consignment contracts, operation, and support of survival swimming.
This agreement is the first case nationwide to entrust survival swimming tasks to an urban corporation, expected to reduce the burden on the educational field and establish a systematic and practical support plan for survival swimming operation.
Superintendent Seo Eun-kyung stated, “Children’s education cannot be achieved by school education alone. I am grateful for the sincere support from the city hall and related local organizations for the future of our students.”
President Lee Gye-moon said, “Through collaboration with the city and the Office of Education, we expect to create a synergy effect for educational development, and we will do our best to ensure that survival swimming operations proceed safely and without disruption.”
Principal Kim Soon-hyuk of Deokso Elementary School said, “The existing workload related to survival swimming operations has been alleviated, so we believe we can provide more enjoyable education to the children.”
Mayor Joo Gwang-deok said, “I am pleased to sign the survival swimming business agreement and expect this agreement to become a hope for future generations. Namyangju City will continue to strive for educational development beyond imagination through continuous cooperation and open communication.”
