Over 85,000 Visitors Recorded... Smooth Event Without Safety Incidents
The Gwangyang Traditional Charcoal Grill Festival Promotion Committee (Chairman Woo Seung-bae) announced that the 20th Gwangyang Traditional Charcoal Grill Festival, held from the 11th to the 13th at Seocheon Sports Park in Gwangyang-eup, concluded with high praise from a record-breaking 85,000 visitors.
This festival was operated with events that satisfied visitors' senses, including flavorful food, diverse content showcasing Gwangyang's history and culture, and high-quality performances.

About 200 citizens participating in the reenactment of the magistrate's procession marched approximately 1.3 km from the Gwangyang Cultural Center to the festival site with support from the police station and social (volunteer) organizations, and performed a unique performance presenting a Baegunsan charcoal brazier sculpture to Mayor Jeong In-hwa and Festival Promotion Committee Chairman Woo Seung-bae.
Related events included the '2024 Gwangyang Drone Festival,' featuring a drone light show and drone experience booths utilizing drones, a core industry of the 4th Industrial Revolution; the 'National Youth Dance Competition,' selecting dance teams to perform on the pre-stage of the 4th K-POP concert; and a Ssireum (Korean wrestling) competition, adding richness to the festival.
Visitors enjoyed various eye-catching programs such as a Korean beef tasting event where they could savor traditional charcoal-grilled beef, a club festival showcasing citizens' talents, a bingo stamp tour, the Maedori photo booth, and street performances (busking), roaming throughout the bustling festival grounds.
A citizen who attended the festival said, "The festival was well-organized with structured content and programs. It was a meaningful time to watch wonderful performances and enjoy charcoal-grilled meat with my family."
Festival Promotion Committee Chairman Woo Seung-bae said, "The 20th Gwangyang Traditional Charcoal Grill Festival was planned as a festival that anyone, regardless of age or gender, could enjoy with a variety of programs, unique events, and plenty of sights and activities. I believe the festival operation was successful, especially since there were no safety accidents despite the record number of visitors."
