Busan Gijang-gun Launches Customized Disaster Safety Education for All Residents

Online Assessment from October 14 to November 12

Step-by-Step Disaster Situation Quiz, Actions for Each Scenario

Gijang-gun (Governor Jung Jongbok) announced on the 14th that it will conduct a "Customized Disaster Safety Education for All Residents" until November 12.

This education program has been prepared to raise awareness of disasters and strengthen the disaster response capabilities of all residents, in response to the increasing complexity, diversity, and scale of recent disaster occurrences.

The education period runs from October 14 to November 12, and any Gijang-gun resident can participate. The education is conducted online in a non-face-to-face format by accessing the safety diagnosis, the pop-up zone on the county website, or the QR code inserted in promotional posters.

The curriculum covers three main areas: ▲ "Natural Disasters" such as typhoons, strong winds, heavy snow, cold waves, heat waves, and earthquakes ▲ "Social Disasters" such as fires, collapses, passenger ships, traffic accidents, and infectious diseases ▲ "Daily Safety" such as electricity, elevators, gas, and outdoor activities, with each area divided into 7 to 15 detailed sections.

Each detailed section presents typical disaster situations in the form of quizzes by level (basic, applied, advanced), allowing individuals to check their disaster safety awareness and the correct actions to take in various situations at once. Explanations are provided for each question to help residents accurately learn safety rules.

Jung Jongbok, Governor of Gijang-gun, said, "I hope this education will be a valuable opportunity for residents to learn the appropriate actions to take in case of a disaster," and added, "We will strive to build a robust disaster prevention system to create a disaster-resilient city and thoroughly protect the lives and property of our residents."

Meanwhile, based on the results of this diagnosis and education, the county plans to identify safety vulnerabilities by age group and disaster area, analyze changes in residents' awareness, and use the findings as basic data for future disaster safety policy initiatives.
