"Thank You to Residents Who Brought Warmth and Practiced Sharing in the Community"

Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) announced on the 14th that it had presented certificates of commendation and expressed gratitude to exemplary residents who contributed to community harmony and local development on the 13th.
The Gangseo Resident Award ceremony was held that afternoon at the lawn yard of Seoul Botanic Park alongside the closing ceremony of the Heo Jun Festival, where nine residents who have led community contributions were honored.
The grand prize was awarded to Ryu Chang-seop, a member of the Hope Dream Group in Ujangsan-dong. Member Ryu was highly praised for his volunteer activities, including providing free boiler inspections and equipment support, and for leading local quarantine efforts through over 30 years of service with the Saemaul Leaders Association. He also contributed to creating a warm community through care activities for low-income groups such as sharing samgyetang, kimchi-making, and providing customized packages for holidays.
In the local community development category, Kim Hyun-geol of Hwagok 1-dong, who has served as a member of the Residents’ Autonomy Committee since 2005 and strengthened community bonds, and Yoo Eun-sook of Gayang 3-dong, who volunteered weekly at senior meal services and promoted a community garden project for elderly single-person households, received awards.
In the resident harmony and volunteer service category, Kim Yoo-won of Banghwa 1-dong, who led environmental protection activities and contributed to the promotion of recreational sports and community harmony, and Yeom Mi-ran of Hwagok 4-dong, who practiced making side dishes for vulnerable groups and sharing kimchi with love, were commended.
In the environmental protection category, Shin Hyun-seok of Gonghang-dong, who participated in large-scale cleanups around Balsan Station intersection and Gaehwasan area as well as natural purification campaigns at Banghwa Neighborhood Park, and the Korea Environment Corporation’s Metropolitan Western Environment Headquarters, which planted Ippap trees to create a forest of life and carried out environmental cleanup activities at Gangseo Hangang Park, were recognized.
In the culture and sports development category, Park Beom-su, who contributed to the promotion of futsal and volunteered for the development of recreational sports, and Hong Hyun-sook, who has submitted works to the Heo Jun Festival since 2012 and promoted various cultural and artistic projects, were honored.
Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, “I deeply thank all the residents who have devoted themselves to helping neighbors in need behind the scenes, adding warmth to the community and practicing neighborly love through sharing. The district office will also take greater care to ensure that no marginalized neighbors are left behind.”
