Special Booth to Operate at Korea Offshore & Shipbuilding Plant International Exhibition from 16th to 18th
Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST, President Lee Heeseung) will hold a special exhibition titled "Our Territory, Dokdo Sea" at the OFFSHORE KOREA 2024, which will take place at BEXCO Exhibition Hall 1 in Busan from the 16th to the 18th.
KIOST has conducted "Research on the Sustainable Use of Dokdo" for nearly 20 years. Through this continuous and comprehensive research, KIOST has uncovered the true form of the massive Dokdo extending into the deep sea and secured extensive information on the oceanography, marine ecosystems, and fishery resources around Dokdo.
The exhibition will feature ▲the underwater territory of Dokdo ▲the underwater and deep-sea world of Dokdo ▲detailed illustrations of Dokdo's marine life through underwater ecological mapping. In addition, visitors can experience immersive content such as ▲Dokdo video experiences ▲Dokdo Web 3D, explore Dokdo scientific research activities and achievements, and learn about future research including maximizing the use of Dokdo data through big data and AI technologies.
The exhibition hall will display abundant video and photographic materials, allowing visitors to gain a deeper understanding of Dokdo, which they may not have known before. Especially through immersive digital content experiences, visitors can closely encounter the vast underwater territory of Dokdo and its diverse and fascinating marine life, providing a near-real experience of Dokdo.
Park Chanhong, head of the Dokdo Research Center and principal investigator, said, "By visiting our booth at this event, you will witness the passion and efforts of Dokdo researchers. In particular, young people can nurture their dreams of becoming future oceanographers." He also requested the public's interest, adding, "We will do our best to discover the potential value of Dokdo through research for its sustainable use and management."
