[National Audit] Kim Dong-yeon "There Are Clearly Special Privileges and External Pressure in Yangpyeong Expressway Change"

[National Audit] Kim Dong-yeon "There Are Clearly Special Privileges and External Pressure in Yangpyeong Expressway Change" Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon is responding to lawmakers' questions during the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee's audit of Gyeonggi Province on the 14th.

Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, claimed that there might have been "special favors and external pressure" regarding the YPangpyeong Expressway change under the Yoon Seok-yeol administration.

On the 14th, Governor Kim appeared at the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee's audit of Gyeonggi Province and responded to a claim by Yoon Geon-young, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea representing Seoul Guro-gu Eul, who said, "There is speculation that President Yoon Seok-yeol's private residence is being built in Yangpyeong. This should not lead to waste of national funds or restrict citizens' mobility." Kim stated, "I suspect there were special favors and external pressure and have repeatedly called for a thorough investigation."

In response to a question from Lee Kwang-hee, a Democratic Party member representing Cheongju Seowon-gu, Chungbuk, who asked, "The Yangpyeong Expressway project, which was progressing smoothly, encountered problems after the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport changed the route in May 2023. What is Gyeonggi Province's solution?" Kim pointed out, "We have presented Gyeonggi Province's opinions on the revised plan several times. Among the original and revised routes, the revised route has far more issues."

He continued, "This matter will not progress without a fundamental solution," emphasizing, "The essential issue is to find out who, why, and on what grounds the Yangpyeong Expressway was changed."

In particular, he noted, "Recent suspicions involve the route change passing through a specific person's land, leading to compensation issues," adding, "This must be clearly and transparently revealed. If this is not clarified, it will be difficult to proceed with the project."
