Lee Chang-yong, Governor of the Bank of Korea, responded "not at all" when asked about his intention to run for an elected office during the National Assembly audit on the 14th.

At the National Assembly's Planning and Finance Committee audit that day, in response to Rep. Cheon Ha-ram of the Reform Party's remark that "some people occasionally say that the Governor has political ambitions as the Bank of Korea strengthens its think tank functions and raises socially controversial issues," the Governor made this statement.

Regarding the criticism that "there is an impression that the Bank of Korea's fundamental economic analysis and forecasting capabilities are declining and that it is being overly cautious toward the government," he said, "If that is the impression people have, I will review it once again."

He added, "I have many acquaintances overseas, and I hear that the quality of the Bank of Korea's reports has greatly improved compared to the past," and "I will also look into whether there might be any misunderstandings."
