Lotte Energy Materials announced on the 14th that it donated funds for tree planting to Iksan City, where its factory is located, as part of creating a green ecosystem.
On the 11th, Lotte Energy Materials held a donation ceremony at Iksan City Hall to participate in making Iksan a green garden city, attended by CEO Kim Yeon-seop, General Factory Manager Yoon Seong-han, Head of Management Support Division Kim Se-yong, Iksan Mayor Jeong Heon-yul, and Kim Soo-sung, Chairman of the Blue Iksan Development Movement Headquarters.
The donated funds will be used to purchase major trees to create forested parks within Iksan. Lotte Energy Materials’ Iksan plant, located in Palbong-dong and Samgi-myeon, employs about 500 staff and serves as a mother plant overseeing the manufacturing and R&D of copper foil used in secondary batteries and next-generation battery materials.
Iksan Mayor Jeong Heon-yul expressed, "We sincerely thank Lotte Energy Materials for donating funds for tree planting to create a green city through the Blue Iksan initiative," and added, "We ask for continued interest and participation in creating a green garden city."
Kim Yeon-seop, CEO of Lotte Energy Materials, stated, "This is our second corporate social contribution activity following last year’s participation in the group’s social contribution project 'mom (Mom) Comfortable Playground' in Iksan," and added, "We will strive to create a green ecosystem in line with Lotte Chemical Group’s 2050 carbon neutrality policy."
Meanwhile, Lotte Energy Materials is also promoting activities to strengthen the social safety net, such as supporting year-end gift sets and portable fire extinguishing equipment at welfare centers in Iksan, in connection with the Lotte Chemical Group donation platform. Additionally, to create a green ecosystem, they plan to conduct plogging activities to protect the yellow-bellied tree frog.
