Gongju City to Provide 4.94 Billion Won Support to Elementary, Middle, and High Schools Next Year

Support for High School Freshmen Uniform Purchase and Overseas Field Trip Assistance for Middle School Students

Gongju City, Chungnam Province, announced that it will provide 4.94 billion KRW in support for 74 projects at elementary, middle, and high schools in the city next year.


The city held the "2025 Gongju City Education Expense Subsidy Review Committee" meeting, reviewed the feasibility and urgency of the projects at local schools, and approved the subsidy projects.


Major projects include: △ 285 million KRW in support for high school freshmen's school uniform purchases, △ 190 million KRW for middle and high school freshmen's gym uniform (daily wear) purchases, △ 1.07 billion KRW for overseas field trip support for middle school students, △ 257 million KRW for rental costs of school commuting vehicles for middle schools in towns and villages, and △ 430 million KRW for supporting school sports teams.


Additionally, as a new policy project, the city will provide 100 million KRW to support an international exchange overseas English camp for 10 students from low-income middle school families, aiming to enhance communication skills and foster international perspectives through language training and diverse cultural experiences during adolescence.


Furthermore, starting next year, the city will fully implement the Education Advancement Special Zone project.


Educational expenses include: △ 520 million KRW to support the cost burden for beneficiaries of the Neulbom School program for grades 1-2 in elementary schools, △ 200 million KRW for environmental improvement of Neulbom spaces within schools, △ 100 million KRW to operate the DigiCul IB-type curriculum and support high school revitalization, and a total of 920 million KRW for five special zone projects.


A city official stated, "Through the support of education expense subsidies, we are working to guarantee students' rights to quality learning and to create an educational environment where students can nurture their dreams and talents," adding, "We will continue to do our best to actively cooperate with the Office of Education and discover a variety of educational projects."
