Inje-gun "Cultural and Sports Facilities Progressing Smoothly by Region"

114 Billion Won Invested, Nam-myeon Complex Cultural Center Opens Tomorrow
Following Wontong and Girin Centers, Sangnam and Seohwa-myeon Centers to Open Soon

Inje-gun, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Choi Sang-gi) announced on the 14th that it will hold the opening ceremony of the Nam-myeon Complex Cultural Center tomorrow (the 15th) and begin full-scale operation. With this, the regional cultural and sports facility expansion project, which Inje-gun has been promoting to meet the needs of 70,000 residents, is bearing fruit one by one.

Inje-gun "Cultural and Sports Facilities Progressing Smoothly by Region" The complex cultural center in Nam-myeon, Inje-gun, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, which will officially open and begin full operation with an opening ceremony on the 15th.

The Nam-myeon Complex Cultural Center in Inje-gun was selected in 2020 for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Life SOC Complex Project competition, with a total project cost of 11.4 billion KRW, including 3.8 billion KRW in national funding. It was built in the Sin-nam-ri area of Nam-myeon with a total floor area of 2,528㎡ and three floors above ground.


The interior is designed as a life culture center equipped with a public bathhouse, library, multipurpose room, club room, and book cafe, providing various convenient spaces for residents. In particular, the Sin-nam Library on the third floor is expected to enhance residents’ information accessibility and convenience by offering a network system linked with the ‘Miracle Library’ along with various library programs.


The library and life culture center are open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. The life culture center can be used through reservation applications. The center is closed every Monday and on public holidays. The bathhouse is available from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and is closed every Monday and Tuesday.


Residents of Nam-myeon, who previously had to travel to nearby areas such as Inje-eup for cultural activities, expressed delight at the news that they can now enjoy cultural life within their living area.


Additionally, the Sangnam-myeon Complex Cultural Center is scheduled for completion by the end of this year, raising expectations for cultural welfare that residents can enjoy.


Inje-gun is investing a total of 7.3 billion KRW, including 2.6 billion KRW in national funding, to build the Sangnam-myeon Complex Cultural Center, which will have a total floor area of 1,669㎡ and two floors, including a public library and life culture center. Currently, the construction progress rate is 98%, and final construction is underway aiming for opening by the end of this year.


Meanwhile, Inje-gun has been promoting the expansion of regional cultural and sports infrastructure to meet the needs of 70,000 residents, including the population related to Inje-gun. Following the opening of the Wontong Sports and Culture Center in 2022 and the Girin-myeon National Sports Center in 2023, the Peace Gymnasium in Seohwa-myeon is scheduled to be completed in June next year.


An official from Inje-gun said, “We will strive to improve residents’ quality of life by establishing cultural and sports facilities tailored to residents’ needs in each region and operating substantial programs so that all residents can conveniently enjoy welfare and cultural benefits nearby.”
