Gwanak-gu Seeks Proud Model Residents Who Contributed to Regional Development

Accepting Nominations for the 32nd Gwanak District Residents Award until November 11... Anyone Who Has Contributed to the Community

Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is seeking candidates for the ‘Gwanak Resident Award’ to discover volunteers who have dedicated themselves to regional development and welfare promotion and to express gratitude.


Now in its 32nd year, the ‘Gwanak Resident Award’ is given to exemplary residents of Gwanak-gu who have contributed to fostering a healthy civic lifestyle and making their hometown a better place to live.


Candidates must have resided or been active in Gwanak-gu for more than three years as of the award date, December 3, and have made special contributions as individuals or organizations.


The award categories include seven fields: ▲filial piety ▲welfare ▲volunteering ▲education ▲culture and arts ▲environment ▲safety. The district plans to select and award one recipient (or organization) per category, totaling seven.

Nominations are open until November 11 and can be made by heads of related institutions, organization leaders, school principals located in Gwanak-gu, or by more than 30 residents.


Those wishing to apply should complete the prescribed documents and submit them in person to the community service center of the nominee’s jurisdiction or send them by mail to the Gwanak-gu Office’s Autonomous Administration Division. Submission documents can be checked on the district office website (News & Notices → Public Announcements).


The final awardees will be selected after fact-checking of their achievements and deliberation by the award committee. The award ceremony will be held on December 3 at the ‘Gwanak-gu Autonomous Hall Program Presentation.’


Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “I am grateful to all residents who always take an interest in district administration development and contribute to community progress,” adding, “We ask for the residents’ active interest and participation so that hidden residents who dedicate and volunteer behind the scenes can be discovered.”
