Uijeongbu Mayor Kim Dong-geun is taking a commemorative photo with participants at the "19th Stepping Stone Festival," a communication event between people with and without disabilities, on the 12th. Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) successfully concluded the "19th Stepping Stone Festival" on the 12th at the city hall multipurpose facility, with over 400 participants including people with disabilities and non-disabled individuals.
The event, organized by the Uijeongbu branch of the Gyeonggi Parents' Association for the Disabled (Branch President Kim Yong-soon), was held to improve awareness of people with developmental disabilities and ultimately create a community where people with and without disabilities live together. This year, the Uijeongbu Central Lions Club and the Black Angel Volunteer Group specially joined in sponsorship.
The festival consisted of three parts: Part 1 - Pre-event activities (club performances and booth experiences), Part 2 - Commemorative ceremony, and Part 3 - Cheerful sports day.
The booth experiences offered a variety of enjoyable activities such as nail care (nail art), making mosquito repellent, face painting, and a photo zone, which received enthusiastic responses. During the cheerful sports day, participants with and without disabilities shared time together through gymnastics, cheering contests, and archery throwing.
Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, "I would like to thank Branch President Kim Yong-soon of the Uijeongbu branch of the Gyeonggi Parents' Association for the Disabled and all members who created this communication space for people with and without disabilities, as well as everyone who generously supported us in various ways. We will continue to spare no effort to realize a city where people with disabilities are happy."
