The Jangam-dong Community Center in Uijeongbu-si, Gyeonggi Province (Director Lee Jae-jin) announced that the Jangam Buckwheat Flower Village Festival Promotion Committee (Chairman Park Beom-seo) successfully held the Jangam Buckwheat Flower Village Festival on the 12th at the Jungnangcheon Water Rest Area.
The Jangam Buckwheat Flower Village Festival Promotion Committee was formed centered around the Jangam-dong Residents' Autonomy Association, consisting of 10 self-governing organizations (▲Tongjang Council ▲Senior Citizens Association ▲Sports Promotion Association ▲Saemaeul Leaders Council ▲Saemaeul Women's Association ▲Committee for the Right Living Movement ▲Youth Guidance Council ▲Volunteer Crime Prevention Unit ▲Community Social Security Council).
This festival is the first fully resident-led village event in the district, breaking away from government-led forms, with residents independently leading everything from budgeting to planning and execution.
On the day, various experience spaces (booths), cultural performances, sharing markets, and food stalls were operated so that all residents could participate and enjoy. It provided joy to children and healing to adults, realizing the image of a village festival where residents are happy and united.
Chairman Park Beom-seo said, “I hope this festival becomes a sustainable village festival that sets the blueprint as the first resident-led festival,” and added, “We will continue to strive to make Jangam-dong a better place for residents to live.”
Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “We will work to ensure that village festivals that communicate and resonate with residents continue to develop and be sustained.”
