Expansion to include not only directly employed workers but also workers from investment and contribution institutions and direct job projects
Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) has set the 2025 living wage at 11,110 KRW. This is 1,080 KRW (10.7%) higher than the government-announced 2025 living wage of 10,030 KRW.
The living wage is determined annually above the statutory minimum wage, considering comprehensive factors to ensure workers' livelihood stability and improve labor quality.
Pocheon City decided the living wage by comprehensively considering the Gyeonggi Province living wage, minimum wage, and the city's financial situation. This amount is 240 KRW (2.2%) higher than the 2024 living wage of 10,870 KRW, which translates to a monthly salary of 2,321,990 KRW.
A Pocheon City official stated, "The living wage decided this time will be applied from January 1 to December 31, 2025," and added, "We hope this living wage decision will help reduce the burden on workers and revitalize the local economy."
Meanwhile, in September last year, Pocheon City amended the 'Pocheon City Living Wage Ordinance' to expand the scope of living wage application not only to workers directly employed by Pocheon City but also to workers directly employed by investment and foundation institutions, as well as workers in direct job projects supported by national and provincial funds.
