Synergy Team Presents on Revitalizing Local University Commercial Districts with 'Gyeonggi Foodie Pass THE Mat-it-G' Theme
The ‘Synergy (SYNERGY)’ team, composed of students from the Shinhan University Student Council, received the Grand Prize at the ‘2024 Gyeonggi The Dream Regeneration Competition’ held by Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation on the 11th. Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 11th that the ‘SYNERGY’ team, composed of students from the Student Council of Shinhan University, won the grand prize at the ‘2024 Gyeonggi The Dream Regeneration Competition’ held by Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation.
This competition is part of an urban regeneration project led by local communities proposing various ideas tailored to regional conditions. It was organized to increase interest in urban regeneration among residents and youth and to discover innovative ideas from local university students to be reflected in actual projects.
The competition was divided into two categories: resident participation projects and university student ideas. Four teams from each category that passed the preliminary document screening proceeded to the final presentation evaluation.
The SYNERGY team presented under the theme ‘Gyeonggi Gourmet Pass THE Mat-it-G’ focusing on revitalizing the local university commercial district, winning the grand prize and a cash award of 3 million KRW.
Lee Geopa, President of the Shinhan University Student Council, said, “I came across the competition information during discussions about local participation between the Urban Regeneration Support Center and university students. I am delighted that the idea I had been considering led to an award,” adding, “Participating in this competition has increased my interest in the local community.”
Choi So-young, Director of the Urban Regeneration Support Center, stated, “Thanks to the active participation of the students, we achieved excellent results,” and added, “We plan to discover urban regeneration ideas related to the region and actively collect voices from the field as needed.”
Meanwhile, the Uijeongbu City Urban Regeneration Support Center plans to make efforts to revitalize the local commercial district, improve residents’ quality of life, and nurture university talent by signing business agreements for organic networking with local universities.
