Kyungnam College of Information & Technology announced on the 11th that the startup club "Red Grooming," composed of students from the Department of Companion Animal Studies, recently received the Encouragement Award at the "2024 KKC Companion Dog Stylist Competition" hosted by the Korea Kennel Club.
This competition was held to establish a proper companion animal culture and to enhance professionalism as companion dog stylists.
Red Grooming is a startup club consisting of students from the Department of Companion Animal Studies at Kyungnam College of Information & Technology. The club focuses on practical training and education related to dog grooming, obtaining the nationally certified private qualification of Companion Dog Stylist, and participating in external contests to develop students' entrepreneurial capabilities. It operates as part of the local specialized college activation project.
Lim Junwoo, head of the Local Specialized College Activation Project Group at Kyungnam College of Information & Technology, said, "Through the operation of the startup club, we are supporting students not only in obtaining certifications but also in systematically preparing for entrepreneurship. Kyungnam College of Information & Technology will do its best to nurture essential talents in the companion animal field, which is crucial in the era of 15 million companion animals in the region."
From the 2025 academic year, the Department of Companion Animal Studies at Kyungnam College of Information & Technology will be reorganized into a three-year program to foster specialized talents tailored to companion animal-related fields.
