The KOSPI closed lower due to net selling by foreigners.
On the 11th, the KOSPI closed at 2,596.91, down 2.25 points (0.09%) from the previous trading day.
On that day, the index opened at 2,612.02, up 0.49% from the previous trading day, and even rose to 2,621.93. However, it gave up its gains in the afternoon and eventually closed lower.
By investor type, individuals and institutions net bought 288.9 billion KRW and 272.4 billion KRW respectively. On the other hand, foreigners net sold 603.6 billion KRW.
By sector, pharmaceuticals rose 2.11%, while securities, insurance, services, and distribution sectors saw slight gains. Conversely, textiles and apparel, and chemicals fell more than 1%.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics closed at 59,300 KRW, up 400 KRW (0.68%) from the previous trading day. Samsung Biologics rose 2.91%, and Hyundai Motor, Celltrion, KB Financial Group, Shinhan Financial Group, and Samsung C&T all rose more than 1%. Meanwhile, LG Energy Solution fell 3.75%, and POSCO Holdings also dropped 1.21%.
On the day, 369 stocks rose on the KOSPI market, including Hanse Yes24 Holdings which hit the upper price limit. Without any stocks hitting the lower price limit, 489 stocks fell, and 80 stocks remained unchanged.
The KOSDAQ closed at 770.98, down 4.50 points (0.58%) from the previous trading day.
By investor type, individuals net sold 47.4 billion KRW, while foreigners and institutions net bought 51.4 billion KRW and 9.2 billion KRW respectively.
By sector, chemicals, metals, paper and wood, transportation equipment parts, and pharmaceuticals fell more than 1%. On the other hand, other services rose 1.75%, and non-metallic minerals also rose 1.44%.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Alteogen closed at 386,000 KRW, up 17,000 KRW (4.61%) from the previous trading day. HPSP jumped 8.32%, and Samchundang Pharmaceutical, Hugel, and Lino Industrial rose more than 5%. Conversely, HLB fell 11.03%, and Silicon2 and Enchem dropped 4.65% and 3.53% respectively. EcoPro BM and EcoPro also fell more than 2%.
On the day, 589 stocks rose on the KOSDAQ market, including Yerimdang, Yes24, and Company K, which hit the upper price limit. Without any stocks hitting the lower price limit, 986 stocks fell, and 104 stocks remained unchanged.
