Uljin-gun, North Gyeongsang Province, has achieved the remarkable feat of being selected for the "New and Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project," a public offering project by the Ministry of Industry, for three consecutive years.
The New and Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project is a program that installs new and renewable energy sources (solar power, solar thermal, geothermal) in residential, public, and commercial buildings. Applicants are recruited and, if selected through the national public offering, installations are carried out the following year.
Following selections in 2023 and 2024, Uljin-gun has also been chosen for the 2025 national public offering and plans to implement the New and Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project accordingly.
In 2023, with a budget of 3.9 billion KRW, installations were carried out for 529 households in the northern region of Uljin-gun (Uljin-eup, Buk-myeon, Jukbyeon-myeon). In 2024, with a budget of 2.9 billion KRW, installations are underway at 340 locations in the central region (Geumgangsong-myeon, Geunnam-myeon, Maehwa-myeon, Giseong-myeon). For 2025, the national public offering project will target residents in the southern region (Pyeonghae-eup, Onjeong-myeon, Hupo-myeon) who have applied for participation.
Additionally, for the 2026 New and Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project, Uljin-gun plans to recruit applicants from all regions of the county around April next year and proceed with the national public offering project.
County Governor Son Byeongbok stated, "I would like to thank the many residents who have shown interest in new and renewable energy," and added, "With rising electricity and heating costs causing difficulties, we will continue to actively promote the distribution of new and renewable energy so that residents can benefit from reduced energy expenses through the New and Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project."
